Specify the color of links:

a:link {color:#FF0000}      /* unvisited link */
a:visited {color:#00FF00}  /* visited link */
a:hover {color:#FF00FF}  /* mouse over link */
a:active {color:#0000FF}  /* selected link */

Definition and Usage

The :visited pseudo-class adds a special style to a visited link.

Active, visited, unvisited, or when you mouse over a link, can all be displayed in different ways.

Note: a:hover MUST come after a:link and a:visited in the CSS definition in order to be effective!

Note: a:active MUST come after a:hover in the CSS definition in order to be effective!

Pseudo-classes can be also be combined with CSS classes, like this: 

a.red:visited {color:#FF0000}

<a class="red" href="css_syntax.asp">CSS Syntax</a>

If the link in the example above has been visited, it will be displayed in red.
